Raptors waive 7-foot center before key date

The Toronto Raptors waived former No. 6 pick Mo Bamba just before his contract guarantee date.

The Toronto Raptors have waived center Mo Bamba one day before his contract was set to become fully guaranteed for the season. With 10-day contracts now available around the league, Bamba is free to sign with another team.

The Raptors signed the 27-year-old, 7-foot big man to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal on December 29.

He appeared in two games during his short stint in Toronto, averaging 3.0 minutes per contest and failing to score.

Selected by the Orlando Magic with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Bamba has played for six teams over eight seasons.

During the 2024–25 campaign, he split time between the LA Clippers and the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 4.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 32 games.

For his career, Bamba is averaging 6.7 points and 5.4 rebounds across 366 games, including 101 starts.
