Liverpool are yet to dip into the January transfer window but rumours are gathering pace that they could be about to strike. Arne Slot's side were met with an agonising late blow against Fulham on Sunday as they drew 2-2 in the Premier League.

Cody Gakpo looked to have stolen all three points at Craven Cottage only for a late wonder strike from Harrison Reed to rescue a point for Marco Silva's men. The stalemate has some fans agitated that the club need to be active this January.

It's the second consecutive draw for Liverpool after they were also held to a stalemate with Leeds United at Anfield on New Year's Day. The Reds' performance against Daniel Farke's side was slated for lacking creativity.

Liverpool to enter Carlos Baleba race

Rumours are heating up that Liverpool are interested in Brighton's Carlos Baleba. The Cameroon international was reportedly courted by Man United in the summer but a move never materialised.

The Seagulls are rumoured to want in excess of £100million for the ex-Lille youngster, making any move a tricky procedure to pull off. CaughtOffside have reported, however, that the Reds are the latest side to register an interest in acquiring the midfielder's services.

It's said that Brighton are ‘fielding multiple enquiries’ for their star man. However, while a sale in January is unlikely it's expected that Baleba will move on at the end of the season.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in bolstering their engine room with Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton also linked with the club.

United have also shown a keen interest in Wharton. According to Spanish outlet AS, Slot's side also face a battle with Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid for the player, with the publication claiming that any club will have to fork out a considerable amount for the defensive midfielder.

Harvey Elliott thoughts emerge

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has been linked with a surprise move to Charlotte FC in the States but a new development appears to make a move unlikely.

According to The Athletic, sources close to the player have played down interest in the Englishman securing a move to America. Elliott's season-long loan to Aston Villa hasn't worked out and now attentions have turned to the next step in his career with the World Cup looming.

Elliott has joined Villa on a loan with an obligation to buy - £35m - should he reach 10 appearances for the club. However, Elliott has been stuck on five appearances since October and only two of those were starts.

It's clear Villa won't be meeting the 10 appearances and he cannot be loaned out to another club this season unless their fixtures do not align with the European calendar - hence the Charlotte FC interest.

With Mohamed Salah at AFCON and experiencing poor form, Liverpool could do with a player of Elliott's calibre, so a return to his club could work out well for all parties. However, there is no re-call option in the contract, so the deal would have to be cancelled entirely for him to return to Liverpool.
