Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Mara Alber, Sandro Tonali and Liam Rosenir that we think you may have missed…
Chelsea forward Mara Alber will spend the rest of the season on loan at Werder Bremen after the Blues made the big decision to send the striker out in order to get some much needed game time.
The Blues posted on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old joined CHELSEA in the summer from TSG Hoffenheim and played just over an hour in a friendly against Ajax in pre-season, but is yet to make her full debut for the Blues.
‘Alber is a versatile forward who can play on either flank or through the middle and is a regular for the Germany Under-23 national team.
‘Having made her name at Hoffenheim, the youngster now returns to her native Germany in the Frauen-Bundesliga as she looks to gain playing time.
‘Everyone at Chelsea wishes Mara every success with Werder Bremen, and we look forward to seeing her progress during the second half of the season’.
“We are very pleased that we were able to bring Mara, another German U23 attacking talent, into our ranks. The wing was also thinly staffed overall due to the absence of Tuana Mahmoud, so we are happy to be able to realise this loan,” explains Birte Brüggemann, Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football at SV Werder.
Head coach Fritzy Kromp also sees the striker as a great reinforcement: “Mara is an absolute top talent and one of the greatest young hopes in German football. Mara made her debut for TSG Hoffenheim in the Women’s Bundesliga at the age of 16 and has since been able to prove herself on both the national and international stages.
‘She is a versatile attacking player who likes to look for one-on-one duels with her dynamism and also brings a lot of goal threat with her finishing skills. We are therefore very happy that Mara has decided to go to Werder despite some options.”
The striker said: “I’m really looking forward to the upcoming time at Werder. I was already able to work with Fritzy Kromp in the U17 national team. Their trust was very important to me in the decision to go to Bremen.
‘I hope that I can contribute to achieving all my sporting goals and that I can also develop personally in order to ultimately make my breakthrough at Chelsea. I would like to thank everyone involved who made this loan possible,”
CHELSE APPOINT ROSENIOR
Former Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior has opened up and admitted that he is very excited to have made the move to Chelsea after the Blues replaced Enzo Maresca with the highly-rated coach.
On new years day, CHELSEA opted to sack Maresca after some stuttering results, and after only a few days of seeking, they decided to bring in Rosenior after being impressed with the job that he done with the French side.
On moving to the Premier League, he said: ‘I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.
‘My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies. To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.
‘I believe deeply in teamwork, unity, togetherness and working for one another, and those values will be at the heart of everything we do. They will be the foundation of our success.
‘I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch, and to create an environment where everyone feels united and driven by the same goal.
‘There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level to make everyone connected and proud to be a part of Chelsea Football Club.
‘I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every single game that we play. They are the soul of this enormous, historic and huge football club.
‘I cannot wait to meet you all. I cannot wait to get started.’
IcFootballnews Says…
Rosenior is a very highly-rated coach but this move to CHELSEA is a risky one for him and the club, it will be interesting to see just how he ends up.
TONALI INTERESTED IN BLUES MOVE
There has been some shock reports in the media this week which have claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing the Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali at the end of the season, and he would be interested in a move to Chelsea
CHELSEA are still in the middle of holding talks with prospective bosses about taking over the club after it was revealed just last week that Enzo Maresca would be stepping down as boss of the Blues after just 18 months in charge.
There has been alot of speculation and rumours on why the Italian is no longer boss of the club, but that is not the only speculation going around in the media at this point, as it is claimed that the Chelsea hierarchy are still looking at players they could potentially sign.
And according to Football Insider, they have a genuine interest in the 25-year-old, and they are hoping to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park. They have already invested a lot of money in Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. The Italian international would take them to a whole new level
Would Tonali join Chelsea?
Reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘The Italian international could be tempted by the prospect of joining one of the country’s biggest clubs. He has been linked with a move away from Newcastle in recent months. Clubs in Italy are also monitoring his situation.
‘However, Tonali has a contract with Newcastle until 2029, and they are under no pressure to sell him. CHELSEA would have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to convince them. It remains to be seen whether the Blues are ready to break the bank for him.
‘Tonali has really shown himself to be a quality midfielder that would improve that Chelsea side, he really is a brilliant Premier League player. But the fact that he has a massive contract, the Blues have a number of players like, him, he is not needed?
A move to Chelsea would seriously be an option for Tonali to make, especially as he would pretty much double his wages at the London club and also challenge for a few more titles, if they get the right boss.
But even though he would be interested in a move to Chelsea, it will be very hard to see this one happening.
