Strasbourg are searching for a new manager following the departure of Liam Rosenior. The Ligue 1 club are owned by BlueCo, the consortium that took control of Chelsea in 2022.

Strasbourg president Marc Keller and sporting director David Weir have been tasked with finding Rosenior’s successor. The French side currently sit seventh in Ligue 1 and top the Conference League group stage, having secured 16 points from a possible 18.

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on a six-and-a-half-year deal, taking him to Stamford Bridge on a contract that runs until 2032.

Rosenior said: “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.”

“There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level to make everyone connected and proud to be a part of Chelsea Football Club.”

“I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every single game that we play. They are the soul of this enormous, historic and huge football club.”

Former Liverpool boss Gary O’Neil has been linked with the vacant Strasbourg role, and according to BBC Sport, he has agreed to take over following Rosenior’s departure. The 42-year-old, previously at Wolves and Bournemouth, will take charge ahead of their Coupe de France tie against Avranches.

O’Neil previously had a year-long spell at Bournemouth during the 2022-23 season, helping the south coast club avoid relegation before being replaced by Andoni Iraola.

O’Neil began coaching at Liverpool after retiring in 2019, working as an assistant coach for the under-23 side. He turned down an opportunity to return to Wolves following Pereira’s sacking and has also rejected approaches from Norwich and Millwall. He was previously linked with the Southampton job in November and with Sheffield United last summer.
