Lamine Yamal misses Barcelona training but expected to be fit to face Athletic

The teenager was not with his team-mates and did specific work in the gym but is expected to be available for Wednesday’s semi-final against Ernesto Valverde’s side, according to multiple reports.

There’s been no official word from the club on Yamal’s condition, but Mundo Deportivo say that he’s been suffering from a stomach virus in recent days which is why he trained away from his team-mates.

Hansi Flick doesn’t have any other fitness concerns ahead of Wednesday’s match, although he has said that Ronald Araujo is not in his plans for the game as things stand.

The Barcelona boss is also hoping to see an improved performance from his team. He told reporters at his pre-match press conference: “I hope we can do better than we did against Villarreal and Espanyol. I hope to see that in my team.

“It’s two games to win a title. It’s the fastest way, and that’s my mentality. It’s what the club and the fans want. We’re here, and we want to succeed.”
