Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League title this season under the guidance of Mikel Arteta

Arsenal are six points clear ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa in the table after 20 fixtures. They are hoping to finally get their hands on the trophy this season. Mikel Arteta’s side have fallen just short over the past few years.

The Gunners won 3-2 away at AFC Bournemouth last time out to keep their push for the title on track. Midfielder Declan Rice scored twice against the Cherries down in Dorset, whilst defender Gabriel also managed to get himself on the score sheet. The London outfit are back in action on Thursday night with a potentially tricky test against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal linked with Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi

Arsenal are interested in Borrusia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi, according to Caught Offside. His current club are said to be willing to ‘cash in’ on the player and his price tag is reported to be around the £60 million mark. Manchester United have also been mentioned as a potential suitor.

Adeyemi, 23, is under contract at Signal Iduna Park until June 2027 meaning he only has a year left to run down. The Bundesliga side risk losing him for free next year if they don’t sell him in the meantime, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon. Therefore, his long-term future is up in the air at this moment in time.

The Germany international, who has 11 caps to his name to date, joined Dortmund back in 2022. He has since been a regular for the German giants and has scored 32 goals in 129 games in all competitions so far, six of which have come this season. However, they may have a decision to make regarding his situation if an offer that matched their valuation came in for his services.

Adeyemi started his career with spells as a youngster at TSV Forstenried, Bayern Munich and SpVgg Unterhaching. He eventually settled in Austria at Red Bull Salzburg and rose into their first-team as a youngster following a loan spell away with affiliate club FC Liefering to get some experience. The Munich-born man went on to find the net on 33 occasions in 94 outings during his time in Salzburg before heading out the exit door for a new challenge.

Why Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi would suit Arsenal

Arsenal have the chance to freshen up their ranks this winter. The January transfer window gives them the opportunity to inject even more quality into their squad. They need to ensure that they don’t leave themselves short and that they have enough options to deal with their workload.

The Gunners could see Adeyemi as someone to bolster their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would offer them something different to what they already have at their disposal up top.

He can play on either flank or down the middle meaning his versatility could be a useful weapon for Arteta to utilise. The forward is quick and his pace can cause real issues to opposition defenders. He has proved himself in both Austria and Germany so now is the time for him to test himself in England.

Manchester United may rival Arsenal for his signature though. The Red Devils have sacked Ruben Amorim and are now weighing up who to bring in as his permanent replacement. Darren Fletcher has been placed in caretaker charge until a successor is sounded out.
