Miami Heat will see Tyler Herro back on the court on January 6 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Miami Heat announced that All-Star guard Tyler Herro is available for the team’s January 6 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Herro was upgraded to questionable on January 4 ahead of the Heat’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, but did not play. He has been sidelined for the Heat’s last 11 games as he battled a right toe contusion, but is now set to make his return.
“I just had to get healthy, that’s about it,” Herro told Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel. “Get my body right, get my health intact.”
He has only appeared in six Heat games this season, as he missed the start of the season after undergoing surgery on his left ankle.
In his limited time on the court, Herro made a major impact offensively. He averaged 23.2 points, 5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
The Heat are currently 20-16 and seventh in the Eastern Conference. Herro’s return will bring the team a boost as the season heads towards the All-Star break.
“Sometimes there are unpredictable things, things that you can’t control,” Head Coach Erik Spoelstra told Winderman. “But he’s in a great place right now, and we’re excited to have him back.”
Spoelstra added that Herro would potentially come off the bench as he works his way into form.
“I’m not giving my lineup,” Spoelstra told Winderman. “I’ll give these guys something to talk about, think about.”
The Miami Heat are Still Without Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Tyler Herro will make his return to basketball, but the Miami Heat will still be without guard Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Jaquez injured his ankle after being stepped on by Timberwolves forward Julius Randle on January 3.
The team was initially unsure of Jaquez’s return before he was ruled out of the Heat’s January 4 game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Jaquez was originally upgraded to questionable before being ruled out for the game against the Timberwolves.
The Sixth Man of the Year award candidate may return to action on January 8 against the Chicago Bulls.
Initially being upgraded to questionable shows that his ankle is making progress, even if he isn’t yet able to suit up and play.
Jaquez is having the best season of his young career, setting career-highs in points, rebounds, assists and field goal percentage.
Jaquez is also second on the team with a plus/minus of +137, only behind guard Davion Mitchell.
As the Heat begin the first game in a four-game road trip, they’d like to have their spark plug off the bench.
