Marco Silva launched a furious rant on Tuesday as the controversy continues over Florian Wirtz’s goal for Liverpool against Fulham.
The Reds were awarded with a goal to level the scores at Craven Cottage on Sunday, despite the German international having looked to have been in an offside position.
VAR overturned the on-field decision to disallow Wirtz’s strike, with footage from the semi-automated system used seemingly showing the Liverpool star’s right foot had managed to stay behind the last defender. Television replays though appeared to show he had strayed offside at the point in which Conor Bradley played a pass to him.

Despite VAR’s intervention, there does seem to be a consensus that Wirtz was offside and that the goal shouldn’t have been allowed to stand. Former Red Jamie Carragher and ex-Match of the Day host Gary Lineker are among those to have voiced their bemusement at the decision.
Wirtz himself even admitted after Sunday’s game that he thought he had been standing in an offside position, only to be left surprised when referee Craig Pawson was instructed to award the goal to him.
The Premier League is thought to use thicker lines when judging offside decisions with VAR, while the rules were adjusted ahead of the current campaign to give goalscorers more leeway, with a 5cm tolerance level applied to tight decisions.

That won’t come as any comfort to Silva though, who confirmed Fulham has contacted PGMOL for an explanation during an angry rant in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Chelsea tomorrow.
“Now, I have more images, different tools. For me, I cannot believe how that goal was allowed, it was a clear offside,” Silva said.
“We are still waiting for feedback from the Premier League. Everyone had the same opinion, it was clear. It’s much more than 5cm in my opinion.”
Silva went on to reference two decisions that have previously gone against his side, including Josh King’s disallowed goal against Chelsea back in August when Rodrigo Muniz was judged to have committed a foul in the build-up following a VAR review - a decision PGMOL later admitted was a mistake.

“Against Palace at home, our goal from Emile Smith Rowe was disallowed, it was not 5cm, probably half the nail of Chukwueze,” Silva continued.
“The goal was disallowed. What’s happened to this game? The tolerance was not spoken about then.
“I believe at the end of the season, everything should be balanced.
