Liverpool have had plenty of good memories from games against rivals Manchester United over the years

The United boss took a veiled aim at some members of the club hierarchy in his post-match press conference following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road.

Following the comments, the club parted ways with the ex-Sporting CP boss. He had oversaw a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the season. In his other game he managed at Anfield, his side drew 2-2 last campaign.

He is the only United boss who has had any sort of decent results against Liverpool in recent years.

One manager who has one just one of his eight games - seven of which came during his time at the Red Devils - against the Reds as manager is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His last game in charge of United against the Reds came in October 2021, when Liverpool hammered their rivals 5-0 at Old Trafford.

At the end of the game, the away fans loudly chanted ‘Ole’s at the wheel’ as they revelled in their victory and rubbed salt in the wounds for Solskjaer and the United fans as they filtered out of the stadium.

The video went viral and was shared widely with Solskjaer lasting just three more games before he was sacked after a 4-1 loss at Watford. Overall, Solskjaer won just once in seven attempts against Liverpool as United boss, which came in a 3-2 FA Cup fourth round victory in January 2021.

In his other games, he lost three times while drawing the other three - with two of those defeats coming at Old Trafford.

However, despite leaving the club over four years ago - the Norwegian is open to a sensational return.

Solskjaer has been out of managerial work since he was sacked by Turkish club Besiktas back in August. It was his first managerial job since he left his role as United manager in November 2021.
