A new trade proposal sends Trae Young to the Milwaukee Bucks.
With theAtlanta Hawks officially working towards a deal involving franchise playerTrae Young, the suitors for the All-Star guard are beginning to emerge.
TheMilwaukee Bucks have indicated they want to add players now, in the hopes of satisfyingGiannis Antetokounmpo and going all-in for another championship. Maybe it’s reckless from an organizational standpoint, but that hasn’t stopped the trade rumors from swirling as the deadline draws closer.
In a new trade proposal,ESPN NBA Insider Zach Kram has the Bucks acquiring Young for veteran players and draft capital.
Here’s the full trade proposal:
Bucks receive: G Trae Young
**Hawks receive:**F Kyle Kuzma, F Bobby Portis, G Gary Harris, 2031 first-round pick
Who says yes to this deal? Who says no? Let’s see it through and find out:
Why Milwaukee Bucks Make This Trade
Ultimately, the Bucks pull the trigger on this deal to make a splash and show Antetokounmpo they’re still serious about contending for a title.
Young has looked ineffective this season, to say the least, posting his worst scoring and assists numbers since his rookie season. He’s also dealt with a sprained MCL and has now missed five straight games with a quad injury. The hope would be that a change of scenery and running alongside the Greek Freak can help him return to the All-Star player he was last season.
Young has one more season left on his deal (assuming he picks up a player option for 2026-27). The combination ofDamian Lillard and Giannis was a bust for the Bucks, but they hope a Young-Antetokounmpo pairing, alongside centerMyles Turner and guardsKevin Porter Jr. andRyan Rollins, keeps their championship window open for another year.
Why Atlanta Hawks Make This Trade
The primary draw for Atlanta in this trade scenario is the first round pick. As Kram wrote, Antetokounmpo will be 36 in 2030-31, and there’s a good chance the Bucks’ selection falls within the lottery. Atlanta would probably like to get one more first-round selection from an earlier draft out of Milwaukee, but the Hawks will be hard pressed to find a team as desperate to make a big move as the Bucks.
Kuzma, Portis and Harris are players who can help the Hawks contend right now, and each is signed for next season as well (assuming Harris picks up his player option). They’ll provide depth and a veteran presence for a team led by the emergingJalen Johnson, 24, andNickeil Alexander-Walker, 27.
