It is expected that the Hawks will look for a potential trade around Porzingis before the Feb. 5 deadline.
It is now determined that the Atlanta Hawks are finally working to cut their ties with Trae Young.

Yet apparently, it appears that they are also set to move on with another key player they just acquired from last year.
Per HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, there is an expectation that the Hawks will check the trade possibility around Kristaps Porzingis before Feb. 5, as the big man has relatively struggled being healthy this 2025-26 season in the wake of his expiring contract.
"Given Porzingis’ inability to stay healthy this season, expect Atlanta to gauge the trade value of his expiring contract on the market ahead of the deadline," the NBA insider wrote.
The Hawks landed Porzingis from the Boston Celtics in the previous offseason. He holds an expiring $30.7 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this July.
Despite being productive in 24.4 limited minutes by averaging 17.4 points and 5.2 rebounds, the Latvian star only appeared in 16 games this season. He mainly fought severe illness which impacted his availability all year long.
Teams that are looking to create significant cap space by the end of the season could be the Hawks' potential trade partner around Porzingis.
