NBA insider Jake Fischer anticipates the Lakers to secure a center upgrade in the offseason.
The Los Angeles Lakers don't consider Deandre Ayton as part of their vision in the long run with Luka Doncic at the helm.

NBA insider Jake Fischer dropped the revelation on Bleacher Report, further noting that he anticipates the Lakers to canvass the offseason market for a center upgrade once they have a more sizeable cap space.
"I’ve said this here for some time now. I don’t think anyone in that Lakers building sees DeAndre Ayton as their long-term answer at center or as the pick-and-roll rim-lob threat that Luka Dončić will grow old with in Hollywood," Fischer stated.
After reaching a contract buyout with the Portland Trail Blazers, Ayton joined the Lakers in a reported two-year deal worth $16.2 million last summer.
In 29 games so far with the Lakers this 2025-26, Ayton is averaging 14.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks. He is shooting a career-high 70.4 percent from the field.
