Mavericks vs Kings Preview and Injury Update: Late, Late game

The Dallas Mavericks (13-23) visit the Sacramento Kings for the second time in as many weeks. Dallas is coming off an improbable win over the Houston Rockets. Sacramento is riding a five game losing streak and have lost those five games by an average of 24 points! They’re in need of a win in a major way.

Heres the main things you need to know before tipoff.

The Mavericks will be without PJ Washington, who hurt his ankle against the Rockets. He was seen at shoot around today but he is still listed as doubtful as of this writing. That’s the only Mavericks player you didn’t already know about (Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively, Dante Exum). For the Kings, Domantas Sabonis has been out with a meniscus tear. Keegan Murray hurt his ankle in the most recent Kings game and will miss significant time.

Dallas should win this one running away. It should be a simple, direct win over a very messy Kings team. And yet they lost to this team two weeks ago. Dallas is capable of just about anything, which is what makes them so compelling to watch. I don’t understand what the team is trying to achieve at the moment. Striving to make the play in is embarrassing but they also have too many good players to actually tank. It’s a very stupid problem to have, but for now I suppose I’ll simply tune in and watch the basketball being played.

Consider joining Josh and I on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start LATE. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
