The transfer window has been open for nearly a week, and there are still plenty of deals to be done across the Premier League. Liverpool have yet to make their first move, but it seems to be on the horizon.

Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo have been making headlines as potential significant transfers. However, it appears that the Reds have missed out on the latter to Manchester City, who are prepared to meet his £65million release clause.

Liverpool will be hoping that City don't also scupper a deal for Guehi. The Crystal Palace star has been linked with a move to join Pep Guardiola's team after his transfer to Anfield fell through on the summer transfer deadline day, with City dealing with several injuries in defence.

With this in mind, we take a look at some of the biggest transfer news from around Anfield and beyond.

First deal close.

Liverpool are in discussions over a deal to sign teenage defender Mor Ndiaye. The 18-year-old plays for Senegalese second-tier side Amitie FC, which is owned by former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker Demba Ba.

Ndiaye impressed at the Under-17s World Cup in Qatar, starting all four of Senegal's matches before they were knocked out by Uganda at the round of 32 stage.

Ndiaye is anticipated to link up with Liverpool's Under-21s setup should the transfer go through, strengthening the Reds' defensive ranks at the academy level. His addition would help compensate for Wellity Lucky's regular involvement with the first-team squad.

Marc Guehi rollercoaster continues.

Pep Guardiola has downplayed suggestions of replicating last year's January spending spree, amid growing reports linking Manchester City with a swoop for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Just 12 months ago, Manchester City brought in Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov. However, it's now claimed the Premier League champions are keen to act swiftly to secure Guehi, whose contract expires in the summer.

The England international's proposed switch to Liverpool fell through last summer, and he has since attracted attention from Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Guardiola's comments haven't completely dismissed the possibility of January business.

"Maybe we will get something, but it's completely different [to last year]," Guardiola said ahead of Manchester City hosting Brighton in the Premier League.

"We are not going to buy four or five players like happened last season to be the [highest] net spend in this country. We are not, but apparently always we are."
