Three telling statistics between Liverpool and Arsenal that should give Reds fans a glimmer of hope

Liverpool travel to the Emirates on Thursday evening to take on league-leaders Arsenal.

The Reds have hit a rocky patch of form again and at the worst possible time, with their fixtures not getting much easier from here on out.

Up next they take on Arsenal, with almost every Liverpool fan going into this expecting the worst, with the Gunners very capable of blowing them out of the water based on how things are going.

Anything can happen in football, though, so a shock could be on the cards, it would just take something gargantuan for them to come away with a result.

History and statistics are very much on Liverpool’s side, however, and here are three that Reds fans might just want to cling on to heading into this one.

No team has beaten Arsenal more times than Liverpool in the Premier League

The first stat is probably the most reassuring one as Liverpool have beaten Arsenal 26 times in Premier League history, joint with Man United as the most of any team.

The most recent came less than five months ago as well after Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick, showing how they are more than capable of producing an upset.

In their last five games in all competitions, Liverpool have only lost once as well, suggesting that coming away with at least a point is more than doable.

Liverpool have done the league double over Arsenal seven times

As mentioned, Liverpool have already beaten Arsenal this season so they will be looking to do the league double over them for the eighth time.

Their seven ‘doubles’ is already more than any other team the Gunners have faced, meaning the Reds would only be extending their own record.

They last achieved this in the 2021/22 season, showing how rare it is, although doing it this year would be a bigger feat than usual given both sides’ run of form.

One issue Liverpool have had as of late is creating chances in front of goal, with this something that cost them against Fulham.

Against Arsenal, though, they do not seem to have an issue as they have scored in their last 20 league games against them, suggesting it will be goals aplenty.

Only against Man United and Spurs have they had a longer run without a clean sheet in their league history before, although these both started back in the 1950s, suggesting that Liverpool might just be their kryptonite.
