Ekitike, who has scored five goals in his last five appearances for Liverpool, missed the 2-2 draw against Fulham on Sunday with a slight hamstring injury.
Slot also revealed that the Frenchman’s additional workload - amid Alexander Isak’s fitness issues - was a cause for the setback at the weekend.
Speaking after the game at Craven Cottage, the Liverpool head coach was hopeful of having Ekitike available for the trip to north London.
However, when delivering a fresh update in the pre-match press conference on Wednesday morning, the Dutchman did not sound too confident.
Slot said of Ekitike: "Not trained with us until now. Let's see if he can today. I've said two or three days ago that he's not going to be out for long.
