Calum McFarlane has claimed there are “lots” of the players in the Chelsea squad who can go and become one of the best in the world in their age bracket.
McFarlane will lead Chelsea for the final time against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday before Liam Rosenior takes his first game in charge against Charlton in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Rosenior will reportedly be watching from the stands against Fulham, and the Blues really need three points in the race for Champions League football.
Calum McFarlane makes bold claim about Chelsea squad
Chelsea surprised many with their performance against Manchester City, and McFarlane will be looking for more of the same against Fulham.
The Blues have been boosted by the return of Moises Caicedo from suspension, whilst there’s hope Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana will also be available.

McFarlane has confirmed Cole Palmer is in a good place following his first 90 minutes since September against City.
Chelsea should be in a stronger position than they were against City with players returning, and speaking ahead of his final game McFarlane made a bold claim about the squad.
“Firstly, there is a lot of talent,” McFarlane said as quoted by The Standard.
“There are a lot of really talented players. Everyone speaks about the age, but I think there’s a lot of players in this group that can really go on to be the best players in their positions at their age, with a little bit of development.

It’s not just the talent that’s impressed McFarlane as he praised the character of the players in the group.

“We’ve got a lot of top talent and good characters. You can’t do what those lads have done this season, you can’t do what those lads have done second half against Manchester City, with everything against them, if you don’t have a certain type of character in the group,” he added.
“I think Liam has got great characters to work with — really easy characters to work with — so it is a really exciting time.”
