One of Chelsea and Tottenham's January targets is set to join their Premier League rivals

The forward has been one of the stand-out players in the Premier League this season and had attracted interest from several clubs with BBC Sport claiming that Liverpool and Manchester United were also interested alongside the likes of Spurs and Chelsea.

He has a £65m release clause in his Bournemouth contract which is set to expire this weekend and City have made the move to trigger the deal before the January 10 cut-off. He is still set to feature for the Cherries against Spurs on Wednesday night before undergoing his medical to join Pep Guardiola’s side.

Giving a major update on the deal, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City, he's coming, the medical has been booked, everything is ready.

“I told you, no worries, no problems, Antoine Semenyo will play for Manchester City. The here we go is coming soon the player is going to work under Pep Guardiola. His final game at Bournemouth will be on Wednesday, then he's going to become a new City player, so all set on that one.”

Semenyo is keen to work under Pep Guardiola at City, as he snubbed the chance to join all of the Premier League’s other top clubs. Arsenal have also been linked in recent months but their interest has not been as widely reported as that of Chelsea and Tottenham.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola appeared resigned to losing Semenyo before the weekend as he was asked about the player’s future in his press conference on Tuesday.

He said: "I think it could be the last game [v Tottenham]. That is my personal opinion, but there is nothing agreed and nothing signed. It is my personal opinion as I understand the market and the noise but there is nothing agreed right now. He, right now, is our player and I hope it continues."

Tottenham and Chelsea are both falling behind in the race for the Champions League. Spurs particularly are well off the pace as they sit 13th in the Premier League, seven points behind Liverpool in fourth.

The Blues are fifth, three points behind Liverpool with new manager Liam Rosenior tasked with getting the club back into the Champions League.

Spurs are keen to sign a new forward this month. That is according to The Telegraph, who report that Spurs are ready to enter the market after an injury to Mohammed Kudus has proven to be worse than initially believed.

The Ex-West Ham man was forced off against Sunderland but will not play against Bournemouth on Wednesday.

“I think it’s pretty fair to say that we are maybe a little bit short on offensive options,” said Frank ahead of the clash against Bournemouth.
