Alejandro Garnacho has revealed he chatted to Enzo Fernandez before completing his move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window. Garnacho left Manchester United last summer to complete a permanent move to Stamford Bridge.
The Argentina international has scored four goals for Chelsea since completing his move to the capital, with one of them coming in the Premier League.
Garnacho has been restricted to just 10 starts for Chelsea so far this season in the top flight, but that could be about to change following the departure of Enzo Maresca as the club’s manager.
The summer saw plenty of intense speculation about Garnacho's future before he eventually completed a £40million move from United to join Chelsea on a deal that runs until the summer of 2032.
Months after the move was completed, Garnacho has revealed how his compatriot, Fernandez, has helped him settle in at Stamford Bridge and the messages the pair exchanged before the move was completed.
"I know the player I am and the player I can be so this is the most important thing," Garnacho told Chelsea's club website. "I'm working every day, really hard.
"I think with time, everything is going to be good, but now the thing is to work every day and try to do the best on the pitch for the team and win games for the team.
"People are helping me a lot. A lot of people speak Spanish here, so they help. I'm really happy to be part of this club and keep working and keep playing.
"I've said many times, with Enzo [Fernandez] for me it's like having my big brother here! He's helping me a lot, in training, in games. When I'm at home, he texts me 'How are you?'
"Obviously, I know him from the national team and during the summer [before the move] I spoke with him, also. I'm happy to have a player and a captain like him here. Really happy."
Garnacho will be hoping to play a key role in Chelsea’s next match, which will see them take on local rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Sunday saw Garnacho left on the bench by Chelsea interim boss Calum McFarlane for the Blues' 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea recently confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the club's new manager, who will officially take charge after McFarlane oversees the match against Fulham.
Rosenior's first match as Chelsea boss is expected to be the FA Cup third-round tie against Charlton Athletic on Saturday night.
