Ben Chilwell sends message to Liam Rosenior after taking the Chelsea job

Ben Chilwell moved to Strasbourg this summer on a free transfer after just over five years at Chelsea.

Ben Chilwell first joined Chelsea from Leicester City in August 2020 for a fee of £45 million.

His time at Stamford Bridge was a successful one, especially in the early stages. The Blues enjoyed success in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City, as well as collecting UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup medals.

A ruptured cruciate ligament in November 2021 against Juventus proved to be a turning point. Over the following seasons, persistent hamstring and knee issues limited his availability, managing only 70 Premier League appearances in five years.

Chilwell reached his low point at Chelsea after being excluded from first-team training and told he was surplus to requirements, joining the ‘bomb squad’.

But Chilwell has been transformed under Liam Rosenior in France, showing that perhaps there was still life left in him.

Chelsea are certainly backing the new head coach 👀

Ben Chilwell reacts to Liam Rosenior’s appointment at Chelsea

Liam Rosenior won’t be taking charge of Chelsea’s clash with Fulham tonight in the Premier League, but he will be watching from the stands.

However, Chelsea have been given a nod of approval after making his appointment.

Despite the slightly sour ending to his time at Chelsea, Ben Chilwell gave a rather classy response to Rosenior making his way to Stamford Bridge.

Taking to his official Instagram account, the defender wished Rosenior well and even gave a compliment about Chelsea as a club.

Having transformed Ben Chilwell, which player could do with some Liam Rosenior help at Chelsea?🤔

Liam Rosenior faces a difficult task at Chelsea

Liam Rosenior is inheriting a Chelsea side that is currently 5th in the Premier League but struggling with consistency, having won only one of their last seven league matches.

One of his most immediate challenges will be addressing a leaky defense that has contributed to the Blues dropping 15 points from winning positions this season, 13 of which occurred at Stamford Bridge.

And it doesn’t get any easier for Rosenior as his first home game in charge of Chelsea is against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

One of the biggest issues off the field for Chelsea is their delicate medical and injury situation. The likes of Cole Palmer, Reece James, and Pedro Neto required strict load management, which has been an issue with Enzo Maresca and the medical department since the summer.
