“Organised, meticulous” – Rosenior explains his coaching style in first Chelsea interview

Liam Rosenior has been appointed as Chelsea boss, and just done his first interview for the club’s website.

As you’d expect, he was delighted about getting the job:

“I’m proud. Excited. I can’t wait to start. It’s a lot of hard work in my life to get to this point, but as I’ve already said to the players, getting to this club is one thing, but I want to win at this amazing football club with these players and the staff. That is what my focus is on,” the newly appointed manager said.

More important than that was a question about how he described himself as a coach:

“I think I’m demanding. I think I’m honest. Caring, I care about my team, I care about my players, I care about my staff. I’m meticulous and organised, and I have a clear idea of the way I want the game to be played.”

He’s certainly saying all the right things, but he never doubted he would. He’s a really well spoken guy who is always going to come off well in these interviews.

The question is whether he can make things work on the pitch, and it will take some time to figure out if that’s the case. He has just a few days to train the players before we take on Charlton this weekend, a nice introduction to the job.

In other news…

A Sky pundit had an interesting take on Rosenior’s coaching talent, claiming he’s “phenomenal” and would do well at Chelsea.

One player who stands to benefit from Rosenior’s arrival is Andrey Santos, who shone under him at Strasbourg last year. There’s a sense that he will get the trust from his old boss that he never got from Enzo Maresca.
