Mikel Arteta emphasises ‘consistency’ for his group to achieve their potential in 2026

**Mikel Arteta**is keeping things humble as **Arsenal**prepare to play against Liverpool.

The Gunners are six points clear of **Man City**and Aston Villa at the top of the Premier League table, and they can kill off any faint hopes of a successful title defence for the Reds if they defeat them at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening. The league leaders have benefitted from greater squad depth this season, and their defensive discipline hit new heights in October under the manager.

The crowning glory for the group will be the collection of trophies this campaign: **Arsenal**are in the final four of the Carabao Cup against **Chelsea**and also sit at the top of the league phase in the Champions League. So, is this Arteta’s best team ever? For the manager, time will tell by May.

“I don’t know [if it is the best team that I have managed], I don’t really like comparing and I think every week the team is different because the players available, the position is different. So to maintain a lot of the great things the team and individuals are doing, consistency is going to be the key to that.

“We know the difficulty of every game. We are approaching it with a lot of excitement, understanding where we are and with a huge desire that we have to achieve what we want to do in May.

“There are a lot of stats, but in the last two or three years, as well, we've had stats and more points and more goals in the history of this and that. At the end we have to translate that to major trophies and what we want to do. Probably now what we are doing would have been enough, but now it's not enough, and we have to make the margins even bigger, and that's what we have to aim for.”
