Liverpool’s current stance on Arne Slot’s job security after dropping points again - journalist

Liverpool’s performances under Arne Slot continue to underwhelm, and fans want the Dutchman replaced.

After a run of nine defeats in 12 towards the back end of 2025, there was a lot of talk about Slot’s future at Liverpool.

In the end, FSG did not part ways with the 47-year-old, and results, on paper, have since improved.

Liverpool haven’t lost a match since November and go into the midweek meeting with Arsenal on a nine-game unbeaten run.

However, Slot is an unpopular man among the fanbase because of how the Reds are playing right now.

Liverpool not planning to sack Arne Slot

The performances have been underwhelming, and while it is nine games unbeaten, that run includes four draws in seven Premier League games.

For the time being, however, it looks as though Liverpool don’t have any plans in place to sack the manager.

Speaking on The Redmen TV, journalist Paul Gorst commented on Slot’s future, he said: “There’s no signs that Liverpool have got any intention of making a change with their coach.

“No sign that Liverpool are looking to cut Arne Slot loose and start again.

“They lost nine of 12, and that was probably obviously the worst it’s been this season, and he’s been given the opportunities to turn it around. And is he turning it around slowly, I guess? You know, nine games unbeaten, like I say, there’s a bit of an uninspiring nine game unbeaten run, but they haven’t lost since November now, and they’re in the top four.”

“They’ve made some steps of progress, so it’s not a situation where Arne Slot’s job is hanging by a thread. I think if the Champions League places were starting to get away from them, and it looked like, you know, they’d have a battle to get in there for the season, I think that’s when there might start to be questions asked internally. But at the moment, like I say, Liverpool are in there.

“It could end up being relatively comfortable in terms of qualifying for the top four. And it may be at the end of the season that there’s something. I’m not sure.

“It depends on what happens now between now and the rest of the season, of course. But, you know, he’s sort of at the halfway point of a three-year contract. He’s still got a lot of equity at the club from winning the Premier League.

“You know, rightly so. A lot of people would argue. So, yeah, I don’t know if there’s any indication that sacking is on the way.”

Why won’t Liverpool follow Man United’s lead and SACK Arne Slot?

Will Liverpool turn into Manchester United

While there are no plans for Liverpool to change managers, a number of Premier League teams have already done so this season.

Enzo Maresca left Chelsea, and Ruben Amorim was recently sacked by Manchester United.

Fans have been debating whether Liverpool should follow Man Utd and be more reactionary when it comes to sacking managers.

But Gorst doesn’t think the Reds are going to start becoming like the Red Devils or Chelsea.

He said: “You know, you mentioned United and Chelsea. Both of those clubs, certainly over the last ten years, have a history of hiring and firing and restarting projects and beginning them. And they’re all just looking a bit of a mess.

“Liverpool, by contrast, have been nothing like that, I think, at all. And I don’t think they’re looking to start becoming that.

“You know, the football might be tough to watch at the moment. And there are questions to ask over the coaching, what’s the plan, all that sort of stuff. But at the moment, Slot, there’s no question over his future.”
