Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is a four-time NBA champion.

At the age of 37, Steph Curry understands that he’s closer to retirement than he’s ever been. Curry opened up about the nature of his basketball mortality amid the Golden State Warriors‘ inconsistent season.

In an impromptu interview with Vince Carter in Toronto on NBA on NBC, Curry discussed his future induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He wants players like Carter, Steve Nash, Reggie Miller and Ray Allen to welcome him to Cooperstown down the line.

Curry also acknowledged that he doesn’t have a lot of years left in his legendary career.

“I guess the only thing is being able to embrace the fact that there are less days ahead on the court than there are behind, so I don’t run away from the fact of your mortality in the sense of your basketball mortality. I know that I don’t have that many years left, but the idea of just honing in on the now, and there’s a sense of urgency at the moment, because I still have a lot to prove on the court. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. We’ve got to hold on for as long as we can,” Curry said, via NBC Sports Bay Area.

The four-time NBA champion has a contract until the 2026-27 season. He’ll be turning 38 years old in March, so he’ll be 39 if he decides to enter free agency for the first time in his career in the summer of 2027.

Curry Ranks 3rd in Latest NBA All-Star Voting Returns

While LeBron James and Kevin Durant didn’t get much love from the voters this season, the support for Steph Curry remained strong. The Golden State Warriors ranked third among Western Conference players in overall voting after the latest returns.

Curry received a total of 1,844,903 votes, trailing behind Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic. However, he’s ahead of reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Edwards, and the surprising name in the Top 10, Deni Avdija of the Portland Trail Blazers.

James and KD came in at No. 8 and 9, respectively, while Alperen Sengun rounded out the Top 10, as per NBA.com.

On the other hand, the Eastern Conference was topped by Giannis Antetokounmpo, followed by Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey and Donovan Mitchell.

Curry Earns Praise From Isiah Thomas

Speaking during the Peacock broadcast of the game between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers game on Monday, Isiah Thomas called the basketball world lucky to watch Curry.

Thomas explained that people know what Curry can do off the court, but the way he interacts with the fans before and after the game shows how great he has been as a representative of the league.

“There’s not been one night when he’s put on a jersey, and the fans didn’t get their money’s worth. He gives them a pregame show, an in-game show, and after the game, he’s so generous with his time. As a role model, as a pro, a champion, as a Hall of Famer, as an athlete, he is everything we always wanted our players to represent,” Thomas said, via NBA Courtside on X.

Thomas and Curry are two of the greatest point guards the game has ever seen. Zeke spent his entire career with the Detroit Pistons, helping the franchise with two NBA championships.
