(Video): Liam Delap scores first Premier League goal moments after bad miss

Ten man Chelsea are level against Fulham!

The Blues went down to ten after just 20 minutes and down 1-0 before half time, but here in the 70th minutes they’ve levelled things up.

The team had gradually ramped up the pressure over time, and got a corner out of it. It was flicked into the air at the near post by a defender, and by chance floated through the air and hit the post. It fell for Liam Delap, who had to keep his nerve and get contact on a high ball as it dropped.

Credit to the striker – just minutes before he had been clean through on on goal after a superb dummy from Cole Palmer. But instead of a simple instinctive finish to the bottom corner, Delap showed indecision and went for a little dink that was so unnecessary, and was saved by Bernd Leno.

Now he’s got his first Premier League goal, hopefully his confidence is up and he can start to score a little more freely.

What comes next? Well right now the Blues should be pretty happy with a draw. But given the momentum is with him, there’s a good chance that they try and push forward for a winner.

They’re making attacking subs – Calum McFarlane is going for it! And we respect that. We’ll take the chance of conceding for the chance of winning this.

In other news…

Chelsea were reduced to ten men by a red card after 22 minutes, when Marc Cucurella pulled down Harry Wilson as the last man on the edge of the box. It’s another red towards a frankly insanely bad record.

You can see how Chelsea’s team compared with our predicted team which we lined up, here.
