Main priority of Anthony Davis revealed amid trade rumors

Out of the constant trade rumors around him, Davis simply aims to secure a contract extension.

In the wake of the ongoing trade rumors and his uncertain future in Dallas, Anthony Davis simply wants nothing but to be secured financially.

Dallas Mavericks / Schedule

In ESPN's NBA Today, Mavericks reporter Tim MacMahon revealed that Anthony Davis desires a contract extension more than potentially staying put in Texas.

"Anthony Davis' preference is to stay in Dallas and sign an extension this summer. The priority there is the extension, not the preference to stay in Dallas," MacMahon stated.

"Patrick Dumont would prefer to see AD, Kyrie and Cooper Flagg together before making any drastic decisions whether that's trade or extension. That's probably not happening before the trade deadline."

Davis is owed $54.12 million for the current 2025-26 season and has a player option for the 2027-28 season at $62.78 million.

The star big man is set to become eligible for an extension this upcoming offseason, but there is a belief around the camp of Davis that it won't be on the table and other teams could provide it instead.

This uncertainty has led Davis to get tagged in the league's trade rumors in which a handful of teams are monitoring his situation.

In 19 games, Davis is averaging 20.3 points, 11.1 boards, 2.7 assists and 1.7 blocks this season.
