Explosive Chelsea chants show how fans really feel after Liam Rosenior appointment

If there was any doubt about the mood of some Chelsea supporters, it was made clear by the X-rated chants of some of the Blues travelling fan-base

Chelsea fans chanted X-rated songs against co-owner Behdad Eghbali and the rest of the ownership during the away defeat to Fulham.

New Blues' head coach Liam Rosenior was in the stands for the 2-1 loss to the Cottagers in the west London derby. Eghbali also joined the former Strasbourg and Hull City boss in the stands of Craven Cottage, while U21s boss Calum McFarlane was in the dugout, calling the shots.

They all would have been in ear-shot off the travelling Blues fans, who chanted the name of former owner Roman Abramovich in the first half. The songs then became more hostile towards Eghbali and the rest of the club's ownership.

Around about the 60th minute, the away fans could be heard repeatedly chanting: "We don't care about Clearlake, they don't care about us, all we care about is Chelsea FC."

There were also short renditions of "F*** off Eghbali" and "F*** off Eghbali, you're not wanted here."

However, there were no songs against the ex-Strasbourg and Hull City manager from the away section of Craven Cottage.

The chants for Abramovich suggest Blues fans are longing for the days when they head-hunted elite managers with proven track records of winning major trophies.

It's fair to say Rosenior would not have been in the mould of an Abramovich appointee, but the new BlueCo and Clearlake consortium believe the Englishman is capable. But the feeling amongst the Stamford Bridge doubters would not have been improved by the loss at the hands of one of Chelsea's biggest rivals.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

There are a number of Chelsea supporters who have been left unhappy with the Clearlake and BlueCo consortiums. There has been simmering dissatisfaction ever since they sacked the popular Thomas Tuchel in the summer of 2022.

Moreover, on the day Rosenior was appointed as the new head coach, the Chelsea Supporters Trust (CST) demanded 'better clarity, accountability, and engagement' from the ownership group.

The CST also revealed 53.7 per cent of its members claimed they have 'no confidence at all' in the ownership group’s football-related decision-making, while 36.9 per cent voted 'not very much confidence'. It also stated 5.8 per cent of members said they were neutral, with only 4.48 per cent claiming they either have a 'fair amount of confidence' or 'great deal of confidence'.

Meanwhile, when it came to sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, 43.2 per cent voted for the 'not fit for purpose' option with a further 42.69 per cent insisting there's 'significant weaknesses' in the Chelsea's current sporting structure.

Before the festive period, the Blues moved up to second position with a 2-0 away victory over Burnley and were only three points away from league leaders Arsenal. However, a run of only one win in nine Premier League matches saw them finish this evening in 8th, just four points away from 14th placed Tottenham.

If Liverpool overcome Arsenal, Chelsea will be six points off the top four. Rosenior has a huge job on his hands if he is to drag his new side back into the Champions League places.

His first match as head coach will be this weekend when Chelsea travel to face Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup. His first clash at Stamford Bridge is then a potentially season defining clash against Arsenal in the first-leg of the League Cup semi-final.
