Liverpool are just over a week into the January transfer window, but the club have kept their plans quiet. Fans expected reinforcements in attack and defence, but no major moves have happened yet, likely due to last summer’s spending on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Alexander Isak.
A move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi fell through in September, but Liverpool remain interested and could make a proposal when his contract expires this summer.
Arne Slot was asked about the possibility of signing Marc Guehi in the January transfer window, and he said: “I never talk about transfers in public, let alone talking about a transfer from another club.
“My answer is always the same. We don’t talk about players that are not ours. “I am really happy with the squad we have. All the decisions made last summer and the summer before are completely aligned with me, Richard (Hughes) and the ownership.
“This season has shown how talented this group is and if everyone is available how good a team we can be.” There is nothing, nothing, nothing positive from players being injured but maybe if I can think about the narrative that we have spent so much money and every time I say, ‘no, we replaced and spent a little bit more than came in’, and no-one wanted to hear it.
Talks are also ongoing for 18-year-old Senegalese centre-back Mor Ndiaye. Liverpool have, however, completed the signing of Noah Adekoya from Burnley.
Adekoya has been part of Burnley’s youth system since the U12 level, progressing through the ranks to earn a professional deal.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a successful two-year scholarship under U18s manager Tony Philliskirk, where he honed his leadership skills and captained the team to the U18 Professional Development League North title last season.
He signed his first professional contract with Burnley last year, running until the summer of 2026. Following his move to Anfield, Adekoya took to Instagram to express his excitement, captioning his post: “God plan.”
