Liverpool are likely to have a quiet January transfer window despite ongoing links to Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, and Marc Guehi. Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo was also linked but looks set to join Manchester City, who have triggered his £65m release clause.

Pep Guardiola’s City are also considering a move for Marc Guehi after losing Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias to long-term injuries.

Guehi had a £35m move to Liverpool blocked by Crystal Palace. He could leave Palace with the club open to selling him in the winter transfer window. “I’m not naive,” said Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. “If a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen.”

Liverpool have completed the signing of Noah Adekoya from Burnley. Elsewhere, former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter has joined Sporting Club Jacksonville ahead of their inaugural season in the US second tier.

Rossiter, 28, was one of eight players released by Shrewsbury last season after spells at Waterford, Fleetwood Town, Bristol Rovers, and Rangers. He made his Liverpool debut at 17, scoring in a League Cup tie against Middlesbrough.

Despite an injury-shortened season, he returned to feature in the senior squad during Liverpool’s 2015 pre-season tour. He later made his Premier League debut as a substitute in a 0-0 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Rossiter’s progress that season was hampered by hamstring injuries, which kept him out following Jurgen Klopp’s appointment. Seeking regular first-team football, he moved to Rangers in the summer of 2016.

“The opportunity that Sporting JAX presents excites me,” said Rossiter. This is a unique project to be part of, and with figures like Mark Warburton involved, I’m looking forward to lacing up for the club this season.”
