Pep Guardiola’s side fought out a third successive Premier League draw as City shared the points in a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton.
With injuries sidelining several players, it was a much-changed City team with 20-year-old central defender Max Alleyne afforded a senior debut.
It was City who took a deserved first half lead, Erling Haaland converting a 40th minute penalty after Jeremy Doku had been brought down in the box.
The spot kick also made it 150 City career goals for the Norwegian marksman.
However, the visitors hit back to draw level on the hour thanks to a low drive from Kaoru Mitoma.
And though City saw a Bernardo Silva effort strike the outside of the post with Haaland then twice going close to forcing a winner late on, ultimately it finished level.
