The team announced that James (foot, sciatica) will be sitting down as the Lakers will face the San Antonio Spurs on the road.
Upon his viral postgame remarks in their 111-103 Tuesday win against the New Orleans Pelicans, the writing is on the wall already that James won't be playing in San Antonio. As it is, the Lakers' upcoming matchup with the Spurs would serve as the second leg of the team's back-to-back action.
James has appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 21.7 points, 6.8 assists and 5.4 rebounds. As he will be on the sidelines, Jarred Vanderbilt, Nick Smith and Dalton Knecht are set to obtain increased minutes.
In other news, Gabe Vincent is set to play for the first time with the Lakers after missing the last nine games due to a lumbar back strain.
