As the Davis trade saga continues, the East widely believes that the star big man is their ticket to the NBA's title round.
There's apparently an intriguing reason behind the constant trade chatter and speculations around Anthony Davis.
Dallas Mavericks / Schedule
As there are expectations that Davis might still remain in the Dallas Mavericks beyond the Feb. 5 trade deadline, there is meanwhile a significant sense that an Eastern Conference team might come out of nowhere and push the button to acquire the star big man.
“Every team in the East believes they’re an Anthony Davis away from making the (NBA) Finals,” a high-level source told Sam Amick and Christian Clark of The Athletic.
So far, only the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors have a reported genuine interest in Davis among East teams. Yet, some unlikely ball clubs like the Milwaukee Bucks also emerged as a potential candidate for the center.
Davis' talent and two-way wonder are undeniable, but the Mavs star has fought injury issues for recent years. This season, he only appeared in 19 of the team's 37 games, averaging 20.3 points, 11.1 boards and 2.7 assists.
