Hawks reportedly trade Trae Young to Wizards

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to send star point guard Trae Young to the Washington Wizards, according to reports.

According to ESPN insider [Shams Charania](https://x.com/ShamsCharania/status/2009089624363463004), the Hawks will receive CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert in exchange for Young.

The trade comes following a report from Charania, stating that Young, his agents and the front office were working on a possible trade since he was not offered a contract extension.

Young, 27, was the league’s assists leader last season. He has only played 10 games this season due to injury issues. He sustained a right MCL sprain earlier in the season and was sidelined with a right quad injury after he returned.

The point guard has been the franchise cornerstone since he was drafted in 2018. He has led the team to the postseason three times, including an Eastern Conference finals berth in 2021. He’s also the Hawks’ all-time leader in three-pointers made and assists.

For the 2025 season, Young is averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists.
