By completing the Trae Young trade, the Hawks are now shifting their focus to landing Anthony Davis.

As they have now closed their chapter on Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks have their sight focused on the future.

Atlanta Hawks / Schedule

As such, the Young deal with the Washington Wizards gives the Hawks plenty of room to use for a large salary upgrade, wherein Anthony Davis stands as their primary target according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

By surrendering Young, the Hawks have acquired CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert from the Wizards. With McCollum holding a $30.6 million expiring deal, Atlanta can free up significant cap space to pursue Davis.

Not to mention, big man Kristaps Porzingis also has an expiring $30.7 million contract.

Davis is owed $54.12 million for the current 2025-26 season and has a player option for the 2027-28 season at $62.78 million. The star big man is seeking a new deal as previously reported.

The Hawks have been generally identified as the primary suitor of Davis all season long, and time will tell if they can finally land the superstar.
