Kristaps Porzingis shared his reaction after the Atlanta Hawks traded Trae Young, praising him as one of the best passers he has ever played with. The Latvian big man explained how Young made life easier for teammates and admitted he was sad they did not have more time together in Atlanta.

Kristaps Porzingis did not hide his feelings after Trae Young's departure from the Atlanta Hawks became official. Following Atlanta's 117-100 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, the Latvian big man spoke openly about how much Young meant to him and to the team's offense.

The Hawks agreed to trade Young to the Washington Wizards in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, ending an era in Atlanta. While the move reshapes the Hawks roster, Porzingis focused on what the team is losing on the floor.

Porzingis, who joined Atlanta in 2025, said playing next to Young made the game easier for everyone, especially big men.

"Obviously, he's one of the best passers that I have played with. I think everybody was benefiting from playing with him," Porzingis stated per Kevin Chouinard.

Young's ability to control the game and create advantages stood out immediately. Porzingis admitted he was getting quality looks on a regular basis when Young was running the offense.

"Offensively, he's a Wizard," Porzingis added, making a comment that quickly stood out after the trade. "He's an amazing, amazing player, and I am sad I didn't get more time with him."

Young leaves Atlanta as one of the most impactful guards in franchise history. He led the Hawks to three playoff appearances, including a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.

Over the last five seasons, he averaged around 27 points and 10 assists, ranking among the league's top offensive engines.
