Liverpool predicted starting line-up vs Arsenal - as Arne Slot copies Man City surprise tactic

Fulham 2-2 Liverpool: Match Review

Liverpool team predicted to face Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium.

The Premier League champions meet the current leaders when Liverpool face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Reds have already surrendered their top-flight crown, with the Gunners in prime position to win the English championship for the first time in 22 years. Liverpool are some 14 points adrift of Mikel Arteta’s side and they are very much playing for a top-four finish.

Arne Slot’s side are unbeaten in nine matches but performances have yet to fully convince. The Reds, fourth in the table, were held to a 2-2 draw at Fulham last time out as they conceded a 97th-minute equaliser after Cody Gakpo thought he’d won it for the visitors three minutes earlier.

Attacking displays have not been free-flowing but it is something that Slot is aware of. Yet getting their defensive duties spot on will be imperative against Arsenal, especially from set-pieces.

Liverpool are set to have depleted options, with Hugo Ekitike (hamstring) doubtful while Alexander Isak (broken leg), Wataru Endo (ankle), Giovanni Leoni (ACL), Stefan Bajcetic and Jayden Danns (both hamstring) ruled out through injury and Mo Salah representing Egypt at the African Cup of Nations.

With everything in mind, here’s a look at how Liverpool could line-up.

Liverpool predicted team vs Arsenal

GK - Alisson Becker

The No.1 stopper will know how much he will need to command his box during set-pieces and he may expect to be busy from open play.

RB - Conor Bradley

Really grew into the Fulham game on the front foot and plays so much better when he is aggressive.

CB - Ibrahima Konate

Form has been much more like himself of late and his physical attributes will be hugely important.

CB - Virgil van Dijk

The Liverpool captain will have to lead his team impeccably if they are to get anything from the game.

LB - Milos Kerkez

The £40 million summer signing from Bournemouth has made strides since his shaky start and he will have to be at his very best to keep Bukayo Saka quiet.

RM - Jeremie Frimpong

The former Bayer Leverkusen man has made a real impact since returning from injury, having recorded three assists. Frimpong will be hoping to continue the momentum

CM - Ryan Gravenberch

The Dutchman has come in for a bit of scrutiny operating in the No.6 role from sections of fans but this is a chance to show he’s still very much among the best in the league.

CM - Alexis Mac Allister

Plenty of fans are perplexed by how Mac Allister’s form has dropped this season. However, with Slot having limited options, he is likely to continue in the engine room.

LM - Florian Wirtz

The Germany international has started to settle after a tough start, having recorded two goals and an assist in his past four games. Will also have to help out a lot defensively.

ST - Curtis Jones

Arguably been Liverpool’s best player during the unbeaten run and made himself undroppable. Having operated on the left-hand side at Fulham, Jones may be set for a new role.

ST - Dominik Szoboszlai

It feels like goalkeeper is the only position that Szoboszlai hasn’t played this season. With Ekitike a big doubt and Cody Gakpo just back from injury, Slot has decisions to make. However, when Liverpool beat Man City at the Etihad Stadium last season, they deployed Szoboszai and Jones as false strikers and it could work again.

Mamardashvili, Woodman, Robertson, Gomez, Ramsay, Nyoni, Gakpo, Chiesa, Nguomoha.
