Big names on the move? Semenyo edges to City, Guehi’s future open, Parrott hot, Zirkzee uncertain, Chiesa Juventus link

There's been movement already in the January transfer window, but with over three weeks until the deadline, expect plenty more.

Here are five players who could still be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo - Bournemouth

Antoine Semenyo’s explosive performances have attracted attention from Premier League rivals. Bournemouth battled to keep Semenyo in the summer, as others departed, persuading the winger to sign a new deal on the south coast.

His exceptional displays this season and the revelation of a £65m release clause make a January move possible. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur checked in on the winger in the summer, while Liverpool had looked at the 25-year-old as an option this month. Liverpool sporting director, Richard Hughes, was behind the deal that took Semenyo to Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023.

However, it's Manchester City who are set to sign Semenyo. A deal has been agreed for slightly less than his reported release clause, as Pep Guardiola beefs up his forward line. The winger has scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season.

Marc Guehi - Crystal Palace

Marc Guehi saw a deadline day move to Liverpool collapse in the summer and the Crystal Palace centre-back could be in the headlines again. Liverpool’s interest in the 25-year-old has not disappeared, while there are rival suitors across Europe.

Guehi has just six months to run on his contract at Selhurst Park and can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides this month, amid murmurs of interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Could Liverpool, or another English side, offer Palace a fee this month to win the race? Or will Guehi run down his deal to increase his options in the summer?

The defender could be cautious about a mid-season move with a place in the England side for next summer’s World Cup at stake.

Manchester City have recently been linked amid defensive injuries and Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has conceded that a sale is possible.

"I'm not so naive as not to know that if a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen," the Austrian said recently.

Troy Parrott - AZ Alkmaar

The latest example of a young player who has excelled since leaving England for Europe. Parrott never quite made the cut at Tottenham despite being well thought of in North London, while a series of loans led to mixed results.

He joined AZ Alkmaar after a productive loan at Dutch rivals Excelsior and has since scored 36 goals in just 69 games. His five goals in Ireland’s wins over Portugal and Hungary in November have catapulted him into the minds of Premier League recruiters.

Joshua Zirkzee - Manchester United

Manchester United spent big on attacking talent in the summer, an influx that has cost Joshua Zirkzee his place in the side.

The Dutchman’s disappointing time at Old Trafford has yielded just five goals in 46 league appearances, a poor return for a player who arrived as Serie A’s Young Player of the Season.

Ruben Amorim's exit could persuade Zirkzee to fight for his place under a new manager. However, with Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all likely ahead of him, a move looks inevitable.

Federico Chiesa - Liverpool

Federico Chiesa enjoys popularity at Liverpool with almost everyone but the person who counts most, manager Arne Slot. Since joining the Reds in 2024, he’s played just 348 minutes of Premier League football.

Despite some impact from the bench, he's started just once in the Premier League. His attitude can not be questioned, but the Italian needs a move to reignite his fortunes.

Juventus have been credited with interest in bringing Chiesa back to Turin.
