West Ham Get Green Light To Sign Chelsea Defender - Report

Chelsea would accept an offer from West Ham for defender Axel Disasi, according to reports.

The Hammers are weighing up potential alternatives if they can’t secure the signature of Toulouse’s Charlie Cresswell, and TEAMtalk claim that Disasi’s name has been floated once again.

There was talk of a move for the France international during the summer transfer window, but a deal did not transpire.

Since then, the 27-year-old has been frozen out of Chelsea’s first-team, having trained with the Under 21s for the first half of the season.

West Ham would pursue a temporary deal

Due to limited financial resources, it is believed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will only consider a loan offer for Disasi.

Chelsea are in a difficult position with the centre-back. They have maxed out on loans to foreign teams, so to offload him this month, they either need a permanent solution or they can send him out on a temporary basis to another English club.

Disasi will obviously be open to all offers, considering he has not played any senior football since his return from a loan spell at Aston Villa last summer.

What is the latest on the club’s move for Cresswell?

So far, no bid has been lodged for the 23-year-old. Reports in the German media have said that the Irons are monitoring the player’s situation, but have not progressed to formal talks.

There are suggestions that the interest in Cresswell stems from the recommendation of Head of Scouting Max Hahn, with Nuno not as keen on the defender.

If the reports that Nuno is leading the club’s recruitment this month are true, it may explain why a proposal for the defender has not been tabled up until now.
