**Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer.**
Keegan spent six years in the Anfield front line between 1971 and 1977, scoring 100 goals in 323 appearances alongside winning seven major honours.
The former England international’s medal haul during that glittering spell included three league titles, a European Cup, two UEFA Cups and the FA Cup.
Keegan recently underwent assessment in hospital for what his family described as ‘ongoing abdominal symptoms’ that revealed an undisclosed form of cancer.
“Kevin is grateful to the medical team for their intervention and ongoing care,” read a statement from the 74-year-old’s family.
“During this time, the family are requesting privacy, and will be making no further comment.”
Liverpool have sent their ‘thoughts and support’ to Keegan, who also represented Hamburg, Scunthorpe, Southampton and Newcastle, and his family and friends.
