Strike 35,000: Erling Haaland Scores Premier League Landmark Goal in Man City’s Draw with Brighton

Erling Haaland scored the 35,000th Premier League goal in history on Wednesday night, but who scored other landmark goals in the competition?

Erling Haaland scored a landmark goal in Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night, with the Norwegian’s strike the 35,000th scored in Premier League history.

Haaland’s 41st-minute penalty opened the scoring at the Etihad Stadium before Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma equalised in the second half. Haaland’s spot-kick was his 150th Manchester City goal in all competitions in his 173rd appearance – that’s 28 games faster than any other player has reached 150 goals for a Premier League club since the competition began in 1992-93 (Alan Shearer, 201 games all comps).

It was the latest goal landmark in the Premier League in what is the competition’s 33rd season since its inception. Haaland’s goal – the 35,000th – was scored four years and 131 days after Burnley’s Chris Wood scored the 30,000th against Leeds United in August 2021.

Brian Deane scored the first ever goal in the Premier League back in August 1992, finding the net in the fifth minute of Sheffield United’s 2-1 victory over the eventual champions that season, Manchester United.

Haaland’s penalty on Wednesday took him to 20 goals for the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, as he continues his hunt for the competition’s single-season goal record. Haaland currently holds that record himself, reaching 36 goals in 2022-23 – his first campaign in England. He’ll need to find 17 more in Manchester City’s final 17 games of the season to beat that total.
