Welcome to a series focusing specifically on the schoolboys at Arsenal who are currently at Hale End – those in the U16s and below. The academy is based in E17, Walthamstow. The tenth article is on Hakeem Abubakar.
Capable of playing as a left-back or a left winger, Abubakar is perhaps best suited to operating in the latter position.
The prospect, who is part of Arsenal’s U16 squad, often poses a threat to opponents with his direct runs.
Abubakar is also capable of making important interventions defensively and will be looking to step up to the U18 squad in the near future.
A player with good technique, he helped the U16s to win the Premier League National Tournament earlier this season and also featured for the U17s at the Geneva Cup.
Furthermore, Abubakar was on the scoresheet for the U16s in the 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest in October.
Abubakar has featured prominently for the U16s this season and will be determined to show that he can make an impact at higher levels.
