This is how they performed as individuals.
**Bart Verbruggen 7/10**
Made a couple of saves which were decent but one would expect him to make and played out calmly from the back.
**Jack Hinshelwood 7/10**
Showed his value by coming back in at right-back with Veltman ruled out. Did a decent job and produced an important clearance right on half-time.
**Jan Paul van Hecke 8.5/10**
Loves a battle with Haaland and produced some really good defending, some of it on a yellow card and some of it in recovery mode, to ensure the Norwegian only scored from the spot.
**Lewis Dunk 8/10**
Made some timely challenges and can look back at a good display under plenty of pressure.
**Max De Cuyper 6/10**
Was caused problems defensively at left-back in the first half but played his part in a good team effort.
**Yasin Ayari 5/10**
Played an intelligent part in the Albion goal but was very fortunate not to pay for three losses of possession in the second half, two of them in his own penalty area.
**Pascal Gross 7/10**
An early appearance in the City box to test Donnarumma belied what was to be a deeper-lying role, picking up the ball from the back and working across out of possession to cover spaces in City’s build-up.
**Ferdi Kadioglu 8/10**

Switched from left-back to right-wing but also with an eye to helping nullify Doku. His clearance from near his own line was worth a goal and he was still charging forward in the final seconds.
**Diego Gomez 5/10**
Flighted a beautiful cross for the early Gross chance but was involved in two huge incidents as he conceded a debatable penalty and missed a golden opportunity for 2-1.
**Kaoru Mitoma 7.5/10**
A poor, sluggish first half was forgotten as he exploded into life with his goal, then created what should have been the second. Exciting signs.
**Georginio Rutter 7/10**
Among those who could not take a good first-half chance, having earlier created an opening for Kadioglu himself with his exquisite through ball.
**SUBS – all N/A**
Hurzeler again left his changes quite late, the first taking place on 77 minutes, and Danny Welbeck, Brajan Gruda, Tommy Watson and James Milner all did their bit late on.
