Chelsea have launched a new retro range in tribute to the club’s first UEFA Champions League campaign. On Tuesday, Chelsea dropped matching leisurewear including tops and a tracksuit as part of the ’99 Gold Retro Collection.

Each of the navy items is inspired by the classic gold third shirt worn from 1998 to 2000 and features the club badge from that era. The Chelsea Retro Crest Track Jacket (£75) has a yellow zip with matching piping on the sleeves and 3D embroidered crest on the left chest.

This can be combined with the Chelsea Retro Crest Track Pants (£60), featuring yellow piping down each leg and a drawstring waist. There’s also a matching cotton Chelsea Retro Crest Sweatshirt (£65) with the historic crest proudly on the top-centre of the chest and yellow piping on the shoulders and arms.

The same goes for the Chelsea Retro Crest T-Shirt (£45), while the Chelsea Retro Crest Polo (£50) boasts a classic polo collar and three-button placket. Rounding out the retro collection is the Chelsea New Era Core Retro 9FORTY Cap (£23), Chelsea New Era Core Retro Cuff Beanie (£26) and Chelsea Third Scarf (£20).

Announcing the ’99 Gold Retro Collection, Chelsea said: “It was 1999 and Chelsea Football Club joined the rest of the world in standing on the edge of a new millennium. It was to become an era of unprecedented success and global prominence for the Blues and having recently been elevated to regular trophy winners and challengers at the top of the Premier League table, one achievement heralded that progress more than any other.

Chelsea's new retro range includes matching leisurewear inspired by the club's iconic gold third shirt.

“Chelsea had qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time with a squad packed with iconic players. Now, over a quarter of a century on, a new ’99 Gold retro range harks back to that momentum-shifting season and centres on one colourful feature of it – the eye-catching yellow third kit worn by those legends on the European stage.”

Each item in the ’99 Gold Retro Collection is available on Fanatics and the Official Chelsea Store. The latter has also launched a ‘retro recreation’ of the Chelsea 1999 Third shirt (£40) that inspired the new range.

It comes ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup Third Round fixtures, which see Chelsea travel to Championship side Charlton Athletic on Saturday (December 10). Fans can watch the game from 8pm kick-off on TNT Sports 1.
