Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Senegal defender Mor Diaye.

The U17 international centre-back El Hadji Mor Talla Ndiaye is set to sign for Liverpool from Amitié FC in Senegal. Ndiaye has been a standout performer at the recent Under-17 World Cup and will join Liverpool this month.

Ndiaye’s side only conceded one goal across four matches, securing three clean sheets in the process. Though Senegal ultimately underperformed relative to expectations after losing out to Uganda 1-0, their defensive unit was one of the tournament’s strongest – navigating through the entire group stage without conceding.

He currently represents Amitié FC and Senegal at youth level. He turns 18 on January 6, 2026 and is expected to join up with Rob Pages U21 Liverpool team.

The deal has been facilitated by Matt Newberry, Liverpool’s director of global talent based at Anfield. Newberry was recently promoted from head of loan management.

Fabrizio Romano has reported:

“Liverpool reach verbal agreement to sign left-sided CB Mor Ndiaye Senegal defender has played at the recent U17 World Cup in Qatar; deal follows the signing of Ifeane Ndukwe from Austria Wien sealed last week. Here we go.”

It marks yet another instance of Liverpool’s strategy of securing the brightest talents not just in the country but around the globe. After signing Salford City’s Will Wright during the past sumer window, the club also moved for Austria Wien defender Ifeane Ndukwe last week.
