Liam Delap was one of the few bright lights in a tough evening out for Chelsea at Fulham last night.
The striker looked dangerous, despite playing in a team down to ten men for a majority of the game, and scored his first Premier League for the Blues. As perhaps the only good news story from the game, it was perhaps no surprise that Chelsea TV elected to speak to him post-match.
Fulham goals “came out of nowhere” claims attacker

“Of course it’s a really difficult one to take. We really dug in as a team and fought for a long period of time with 10 men. The boys showed great spirit, belief and character to get back into the game,” Delap said.
“Their two goals came out of nowhere really. We did well to get back into the game but sometimes stuff like that happens in football and we’ve just got to keep our heads up.”
He’s not wrong, but there’s only so many setbacks a group can take psychologically before they start to just accept these things. Hopefully an injection of fresh energy from incoming coach Liam Rosenior can help lift spirits at a crucial moment in the season – that’s clearly what the hierarchy thought was necessary now.

Pedro Neto is not in a good run of form at the moment, and his struggles were made clear with one dreadful cross last night, which incoming manager Liam Rosenior was seen reacting to.
On a podcast they compared the chants against the ownership to another [very toxic moment in the club’s history.](https://chelsea.news/2026/01/since-rafa-benitez-why-chelsea-situation-is-being-compared-to-toxic-moment-from-the-past/) It will be very interesting to see where everything goes from here – it will take years of good results to win the fans trust back.
