Liverpool Considering Risky£70m Swoop for ‘Controversial’ Ex-Man Utd Star in Semenyo Twist

Liverpool seem to have missed out on signing Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, as he looks set to join Man City.

The January transfer window is a huge one for Liverpool, with the future of Mo Salah hanging in the balance. It looks as though Salah’s long-term future isn’t at Liverpool, and so the Reds need to find their next Salah in the transfer market.

They had been interested in Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, who has a £65m release clause until January 10, but eight days into the window, it looks almost a dead certainty that he will join rivals Man City.

Semenyo has reportedly undergone his medical at the Etihad, so the Reds will now need to find an alternative who can help fill the void that Salah is going to leave when he moves on.

Liverpool linked to shock Greenwood deal

The Reds have been linked to several top class wingers over the past few months, but a fresh link by the Spanish media is set to send a massive shockwave through the Premier League, as Fichajes are claiming the Reds are considering a move for ex-Man United attacker Mason Greenwood.

The 24-year-old was showing himself to being a prospect at United who could become one of the best attackers in the world, but he then was forced to leave Old Trafford following his arrest on suspicion of rape.

He left United and joined French side Marseille in 2024, and has since re-ignited his career, scoring 37 goals, and providing 10 assists in 59 matches. His value has sky-rocketed, and the report by Fichajes is now claiming that Liverpool are considering a move to sign him for at least £70m.

It is understood that despite his excellent performances for Marseille, Greenwood could be sold, so that the French club can cash in and re-invest the profits into Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

Who else could the Reds sign?

In terms of other wingers that have been linked with a move to Anfield, PSG star Bradley Barcola also appears to be on Arne Slot’s radar, as it is understood that PSG could be willing to sell the 23-year-old France international in the summer.

Barcola has been at PSG since 2023 when he joined from Lyon, and he has since scored 31 goals, and provided 33 assists in 125 matches. He also was a major part of their Champions League-winning squad last season under Luis Enrique.
