“Here we go!” – Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed Chelsea deal for midfielder they will wish…

Chelsea midfielder Leo Castledine is attracting interest from the Championship, and could be set for a permanent move this month. He was never rated along with some of the top names in the academy, but has beaten all expectations.

His loan to Huddersfield this season has been a triumph, with the midfielder scoring 10 goals and grabbing 2 assists in just 23 games in League One. His all competition stats are even better – 17 goal contributions in 23 games for the Terriers. That has already earned him a move up the ladder.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s Tweet from just now, Castledine is set to join Middlesbrough on a permanent deal for £1m, with an additional “important” sell on clause. The youngster now just has to complete a medical.

The low fee is because he’s out of contract next summer. Of course Chelsea had no idea that he would smash it like this, but they will regret not having paid up to extend him before the season now. They could be getting ten times this much for him.

Still, with a sell on clause in there, there’s still scope for more cash down the line. Boro should be a great move for Leo, and we hope his superb form translates to the Championship. We’ll be keeping an eye on him.

Good luck, Leo!

In other news…

Chelsea aren’t going to do much business in January by the sounds of things – but they have already forked out for one new addition this month.

Liam Delap scored his first Premier League goal last night, an enjoyable moment for Chelsea fans in an otherwise pretty rotten game. He spoke post-game about hitting some form now he’s fit.
