Arne Slot’s apparent obsession with Ligue 1 powerhouse PSG has, quite frankly, become a little worrying.
The Reds were knocked out of the 2024/25 Champions League at the last-16 stage by the eventual winners.
And ever since then, it seems like Slot has been unable to get the Parisian outfit out of his mind.

The Liverpool manager commented on PSG in December when discussing the need to add more pace to his team.
He said: “I see many of the top teams have one, two, three individuals that have pace that is exceptional.”
“Of course we faced Paris Saint-Germain last season where we had to face Dembele, Barcola, Doue, all of these incredibly fast players. So, that is what we’ve tried to add with him.”
Now, in his pre-Arsenal press conference, he once again spoke about PSG, saying: “I’ve said many times that I found our games against Paris Saint-Germain a joy to watch. So then compare maybe these two games [Fulham] with each other and then ask yourself why is one game a joy to watch and the other is harder to watch?”

A bold claim from the Dutchman, given Liverpool didn’t even play that well across the two legs.
Yet for whatever reason, the manager can’t stop comparing his team to PSG.

Luis Enrique could replace Arne Slot at Liverpool
Now, recent developments may mean that Slot finally gets his wish and the Reds start to play a lot more like the Champions League holders.
It won’t be under him, however, but rather under their current manager, Luis Enrique.
Late last year, there was a suggestion that Liverpool want Enrique to replace Slot in the long-term.
The former FC Barcelona coach remains under contract in Paris until 2027, but he is not expected to sign a new deal.
Reports coming out of Europe this week are even saying that Enrique will leave PSG in the summer window as he eyes up a new challenge.
The 55-year-old has managed in Spain, France and Italy, but never had a chance to compete in the Premier League.
So, it seems like the stars could well align, and given how 2025/26 is going under Slot, Liverpool may be on the lookout for a new coach come the summer.
As mentioned, there is already thought to be interest in Enrique as a long-term option, and it seems like this year will be the perfect time to make a move.
He would, of course, likely set Liverpool up in a similar fashion to his PSG side, which has been so dominant in the last couple of years.
A boost for the Reds, perhaps, and Slot’s vision may finally come to pass; he just won’t be around to see it.
