Heavyweight clash: Arsenal face Liverpool in the Premier League tonight
A blockbuster clash will wrap up the midweek action from the Premier League as leaders Arsenal face reigning champions Liverpool. It is a meeting between last season’s top two, though a massive 14 points seperates them ahead of kick-off with the Gunners aiming to extend their lead at the top of the table.
With Manchester City and Aston Villa being held on Wednesday night, it means Mikel Arteta’s side will move eight points clear at the Premier League summit with victory over Liverpool, who arrive in north London unbeaten in their last nine games across all competitions and can add another twist to this season’s title race by completing a league double over the Gunners.
In terms of team news, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are expected to return to the starting lineup for the hosts, but the Merseyside giants are sweating over the fitness of in-form striker Hugo Ekitike. Liverpool team news
Liverpool's main injury concern is the in-form Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman missed the 2-2 draw at Fulham with a hamstring complaint as well as fatigue and Arne Slot remains unsure if the forward will be fit for the trip to north London.
If Ekitike is ruled out, Cody Gakpo is the most likely option to lead the line given Alexander Isak is out injured and Mohamed Salah is away on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Arne Slot has been rotating his full-backs recently, so it could mean that Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson start to provide a more solid defensive platform.

Arsenal team news
Arsenal’s injury woes are beginning to clear with Riccardo Calafiori and Cristhian Mosquera the only first team players sidelined along with youngster Max Dowman.
Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are expected to return to the starting lineup after coming off the bench in the 3-2 win over Bournemouth, while Piero Hincapie should get the nod over Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back.
There is a decision to be made regarding Kai Havertz after he was left out of the squad on Saturday. Eberechi Eze will be hopeful of getting some minutes under his belt having not featured since the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over former club Crystal Palace.
