Liverpool are said to have 'reached a verbal agreement' for their second signing of the January transfer window. The Reds are, according to reports, on the verge of adding Senegal's Under-17 international, Mor Ndiaye, to their ranks and he will become their second defensive signing this month upon completion of that deal.

Ndiaye, who only turned 18 on Tuesday, is registered with Amitie Football Club in Senegal, who are owned by former Newcastle United and Chelsea forward Demba Ba. The proposed deal was reported by Liverpool ECHO, with Fabrizio Romano also detailing the agreement on social media platform X.

The left-sided central defender recently featured for Senegal at the Under-17 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar. They finished top of their group before suffering a round-of-32 elimination to Uganda.

According to Liverpool ECHO, Ndiaye would be expected to move straight into Liverpool's Under-21 squad. They are coached by former Wales boss Rob Page.

That would allow 19-year-old Amara Nallo, who has been sent off during both of his senior Reds appearances to date, the opportunity to move out on loan and gain valuable playing experience.

Ndiaye would become the club's second January recruit if other reports of Ifeanyi Ndukwe's signing from Austria Vienna are to play out.

Last week, it was said that the 17-year-old has already agreed terms to move to Merseyside. He's another starlet who impressed at the U17s World Cup, featuring heavily for Austria, who thrashed England 4-0 in the round of 16 before eventually finishing runners-up to tournament winners Portugal.

However, the ECHO's report states that Anfield chiefs are still in negotiations over this transfer and Ndukwe's arrival is only being planned in time for the start of 2026/27 pre-season training in July - after his 18th birthday.

Though overall, Liverpool are only eight days into the January transfer window and look to be making significant moves in the youth market, particularly where it concerns defenders.

Many are fixated on their senior options at the back, however, in the knowledge that Ibrahima Konate has now entered the final six months of his Reds contract and transfer target Marc Guehi is increasingly becoming sought-after by their rivals.

The England international is set to leave Crystal Palace either this month or when his contract expires this summer, months on from his collapsed £35m move to Anfield on summer 2025 deadline day.

Worryingly for Liverpool, Premier League leaders Arsenal are the latest club to ready their pitch as Manchester City and Bayern Munich also provide strong competition.
